Very exciting news!  As part of our efforts to improve the reserve we are going to be adding a reed bed to our bog area, just outside the Coffin Lodge!!!!!!!!!! In the next month or so we will be going down to the Doffcocker Lodge, where we will be cutting reeds to transplant into the reserve....

Today lots of plants were added to the reserve, including Red Valerian, Red Campion, Forget me nots, Snowdrops, Holly and Buddleia. Wild flower seeds were also scattered, so fingers crossed!

Today the nest boxes were checked and the empty 'bedding' cleared out.  Out of the 3 open fronted type nest boxes only one had been used and that was used by a wren. There were 9 holed nest boxes, of which 6 were taken up. All in all this is a good take up rate for the first year.  Only...
