The notice board should be sited sometime around the middle of August. It will be placed at the entrance to the reserve just off the green.

Thanks to some funding from the Rotary Club, we are now able to purchase a large notice board for the reserve.

It's great to see that so many of the nest boxes are being used! Who knew that there were so many blue tits in there! Food is now being taken into the nests so we'll soon be innundated with baby blue tits.

Today our free Wych Elm from 'The Great British Elm Experiment' was planted. We chose a Wych Elm as it was felt appropriate as the name Horwich means 'the place near the Wych Elm'. Thanks goes to Rod for planting the Elm.

After finding lots of stranded tadpoles last year the decision was taken that any frogspawn found in ponds that did not hold water during the summer would be moved to more reliable ponds in the reserve. We spent an hour or so filling bucket after bucket of spawn!

Today 10 nest boxes were put up in the reserve. Next week 13 more boxes are scheduled to be put up including 9 bat boxes.
Just days after the nest boxes were put up there was already a lot of interest being shown in them.

Today and tomorrow the path coming down from the entrance at the top of Bridge St is being repaired. The stone channel is being raised and a channel being dug out down towards the brook, to try and divert water away from the path, as it has already been resurfaced several times over the last...

On new years day we found a large Alder blocking the path, down near the little bridge.

Tonight two of our group will be collecting a cheque from Horwich Council, which will provide a fenced off feeding area in the reserve.
