A dipper was spotted 'dipping' in the brook just beyond the stepping stones and opposite Balsam Glade. Although the dippers are around all year they are more likely to be seen in the reserve during the spring. At other times they are more often found hanging out near Horwich Bridge, parallel with the old buildings.
